The Feel Amazing Chatswood Chiropractor Information Page
At Feel Amazing Wellness Centre in Chatswood, our Chiropractic treatment focuses on your individual body’s symptoms and underlying health. Our Chatswood Chiropractor Elijah will spend one to one time with you to get the most benefit from your appointment. The aim is to not only have your body functioning better but to feel amazing too.
Many of our clients are being impacted by our day to day lives, the work we do, poor posture, other stress and strain on our bodies, as well as the impact of injury or health concerns. Chiropractors are professional health care providers and can identify and treat health problems related to the nervous, muscular and skeletal systems, particularly the spine, without the use of drugs or surgery.
What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic care is one of the most widely accepted forms of alternative healthcare that works with the body’s innate capacity to heal without the use of drugs or surgery.
“Chiropractors are evidenced-based practitioners dedicated to addressing and preventing disorders within the musculoskeletal system” – (Macquarie University).
Chiropractic treatment focuses on the relationship between the structure of our body and its functioning, to restore and maintain our health. Our nervous system consists of a complex network of nerves and cells that carry messages to and from the brain and spinal cord to various parts of the body.
Chiropractic care can help the entire body to work better by realigning the musculoskeletal system, helping to remove disruptions to these messages, leaving the person not only feeling better but functioning better.
Why a Chiropractor?
Our bodies are affected by our activities, the food we eat and our environments and so Chiropractic care can help treat imbalances and work towards optimal health.
Such an important hands-on approach to care fits in perfectly with our wellness centre, we are here to help people to improve their health and wellbeing.
Why do people see our Chatswood Chiropractor?
Many people seek Chiropractic care after they have had an injury or accident, while others find regular treatments help combat the impact of health problems or the activities of our daily lives that hinder our movement and the way our bodies function.
We might be experiencing headaches, back pain, or we can feel unbalanced when we walk or are uncomfortable physically but can’t always work out why. Often our posture is poor due to using computers and mobiles, we put a strain on our bodies by lifting and carrying children, or there is extra pressure on us physically when we need to ensure our bodies are prepared for sporting pursuits, or during times of stress or illness.
What can Chiropractic care help with?
Chiropractic care can help with a wide range of common issues. In addition to back, hip and neck pain, Chiropractic care can also address headaches, migraines, overuse injuries, overall limited movement and many more conditions you may experience. Some of us leave seeking treatment until we can hardly walk, turn our head, use our hands to type or text, or get our brain to function! So, seeing someone before you get to this stage is recommended, but then acute injury happens too – sometimes you just wake up with a stiff neck. So really, you should see Elijah anyway!
What qualifications do Chiropractors have?
Chiropractors study at University for 5 years (earning a degree then masters) to obtain recognised qualifications that lead to a license to practise as a Chiropractor in Australia. Extensive clinical experience is gained before achieving accreditation and practitioners are then legally required to be registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia before practising.
Why have a Chiropractic session at Feel Amazing?
At Feel Amazing Wellness Centre our Chatswood Chiropractor Elijah has been working with us for over 5 years and is a vital part of the Feel Amazing team. For more on his professional background check out his profile page. Elijah believes in the benefits that Chiropractic care offers his clients and is experienced in providing care that he has seen help his clients who present with a variety of health concerns and symptoms. The time he spends with his clients allows him to address their individual needs and encourages self-management of health, with maintenance treatments that are not too frequent supporting this.
As well as spending 30 minutes with every client for their follow up consultations (initial consultations are 45 minutes) our Chatswood Chiropractor Elijah also gives one on one care. This means, like all our clients seen at Feel Amazing in Chatswood, we have private treatment rooms where your appointment time is our priority, we don’t use an open area for our adjustments.
What is an adjustment?
“Using spinal adjustments, manipulation and other physical means to improve neuromusculoskeletal function, Chiropractors can help us live healthy and active lives.” (Macquarie University)
A Chiropractic adjustment itself is the application of a controlled, quick force to a specific joint. The aim of this hands on approach is to look for areas in the spine and musculoskeletal system that are not functioning correctly and provide the appropriate adjustment to correct them. When our bodies aren’t functioning at their best it means the signals that go through our nervous system are being interrupted, meaning the messages going to our brain and throughout our body aren’t firing as they should. This leaves us prone to symptoms that can impact our movement, mobility, balance, thinking, sleep, digestion, emotions and could turn into injury and chronic illness. With regular treatment, the body can regulate itself more optimally.
Elijah utilizes a combination of soft tissue work, gentle and manual adjusting techniques. He specializes in the management of chronic and acute pain. He is also experienced in providing postural maintenance throughout pregnancy and co-manages with other practitioners during postnatal care.
Postural and preventative management are often addressed with exercises and stretches given that are specifically tailored to the individual. You don’t have to be a certain age or fitness level to seek care.
Elijah is also qualified to do kinesiology taping to aid recovery from injury and muscle strain, help with swelling, mobility, pain and dynamic support.
What helps to maintain the benefits after a Chiropractic session (how should I feel?)
- Follow the recommendations from your Chatswood Chiropractor!
- Taking a 10 minute gentle walk immediately after a Chiropractic session helps the body to settle into any changes in posture and function
- If you are experiencing any discomfort or pain, then using a heat pack can help
- Keep doing the exercises prescribed to you as these will be adjusted to your changing needs
It’s always good to let your practitioner know how you felt after your session at your next appointment.
In between appointments, if you have some aches and pains as a short-term help heat packs are ideal, where bed rest is no longer recommended. Our bodies respond better if we move them. (But as always seek medical advice with any injury or medical condition)
If you are experiencing ongoing muscle tightness and tension, then having a massage can help with this and allow you to move better to continue on with your exercises and going about daily life. It’s important to remember to stretch before and after activities (even a swim at the beach), to bend the knees when lifting, trying not to twist and carry items close to your body.
